Since 2003, the Kluane Mountain Bluegrass Festival has consistently presented amazing music from the finest artists in bluegrass. Performances by Blue Highway, Balsam Range, Dailey and Vincent, Claire Lynch, Dale Ann Bradley, Steep Canyon Rangers, Grasstowne, Michael Cleveland, Junior Sisk, James King, Frank Solivan, the Gibson Brothers, Flatt Lonesome and many, many others are a testament to our never-ending desire to present our audience with only the best: soaring harmonies, astonishing instrumentals and indelible memories.
Three days of performances by the best bluegrass bands in the world not enough? People tell us that our Gospel Show is an experience not to be missed. Nor is it just all about the big name performers; we also feature workshops that get you involved, fine regional artists and our Showcase Band Competition that has launched the careers of several Yukon bands.
At our Festival, it really is about the music, but it’s also mandatory to have fun! There are plenty of opportunities for jamming, eating, laughing, catching up with old friends and making new ones. The Festival is held each June right around the summer solstice, so you can keep ‘er going under the midnight sun, twenty-four hours a day. If you get hungry, delicious food is available at the Bluegrass Cafe.
The Festival is located in Haines Junction, Yukon, a beautiful village at the edge of Kluane National Park. A gem in the family of Parks Canada’s national treasures, Kluane National Park and Reserve of Canada covers an area of 21,980 square kilometres. It is a land of precipitous, high mountains, immense icefields and lush valleys that yield a diverse array of plant and wildlife species and provides for a host of outdoor activities. Kluane National Park and Reserve is also home to Mount Logan (5959 m/19,545 ft), Canada’s highest peak.
Haines Junction lies within the traditional territory of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. Be sure to visit the Da Kų Cultural Centre to learn about the cultural contribution and way of life of the First Nations people.
