Dana Jennejohn and The Bennett Sun is a little lady band from Canada’s big North who have a sound described as somewhere in between tumbleweed pop and city folk.  They are a mountain-to- valley string band that has been making music together since 2010 after playing with one another at late night jam session under the midnight sun at a music camp held in Kluane Country.
The sound and songs of the band are inspired by northern living, landscape and people. Their music ranges beyond the bluegrass sound but band’s method of creating a song stems out of the collaborative bluegrass tradition.  Dana is the band’s songwriter, but it is the magic of collaboration between the band members that gives them their distinct sound. This harmony rich string band has been compared to the Good Lovelies and or an acoustic version of The Jayhawks.
The band released their first EP in March, 2015 in Haines Junction thanks to the hard work of dear friends and Junction Arts and Music. Since the release of their EP they have gone on to be a regional finalists in CBC’s Searchlight Contest 2015 and were accepted as one of the Show Case bands at BreakOut West 2015 in Victoria. The band is Dana Jennejohn (guitar, vocals), Roslyn Wilson (mandolin,
vocals), Lisa Christensen (banjo, vocals), Dorothy Williams (fiddle), Erin McKnight (bass).
