Classically trained, but brought together musically playing Irish pub songs, The Bombadils' Luke Fraser and Sarah Frank create beautiful harmonies and enchanting melodies by reconfiguring old-time music, bluegrass, sea shanties and even jazz into a new folk framework. The juxtaposition of landlubber and maritimer fits into their world as well, with Sarah's Alberta prairie upbringing and Luke's roots in Nova Scotia. His guitar, mandolin and well-placed harmonies are the ideal counterpoint to her sweet-yet-powerful vocals, lyrical fiddle playing and claw-hammer banjo. The Bombadils are 2017 Canadian Folk Music Association Vocal Group of the Year and Emerging Artist nominees. For the Kluane Mountain Bluegrass Festival, Luke and Sarah will be joined by Eric Wright, of Juno-award winning act, The Fretless, on cello.
